Silicon Valley Holocaust Survivors Association Brunch

Sunday, July 14, 2019 11 Tammuz 5779

10:30 AM - 1:00 PMAddison Penzak Jewish Community Center

The Silicon Valley Holocaust Survivors Association (initially founded as the South Bay Holocaust Group) has been in existence for over 25 years, meeting on the second Sunday of the month.

The group was established and continues with the support of the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley, Jewish Family Service, Chai House, the APJCC, our synagogues as well as generous community donors.

Our Mission has been to provide a forum for Survivors and their offspring to meet on a regular basis to share their experiences with each other and as a resource for those who wished to meet Survivors and learn about the Holocaust.  A dynamic Speakers Bureau was formed where Survivors, in collaboration with the educators from the NCCJ, SVFACES and Facing History and Ourselves visited local schools to share their experiences. Our Survivors built and dedicated the Holocaust Remembrance Wall at the APJCC in Los Gatos, overcame their reluctance to talk about their horrific experiences by emotionally supporting each other, working with local and state legislators to remember the Shoah and other genocides (in the past and sadly that are happening today) at the local, state and national levels.

The goal has always been to Remember the Shoah and learn from it.

The Silicon Valley Holocaust Survivors Association gathers the second Sunday of each month for a bagel brunch from 10:30am-1:00pm. The first hour is reserved for eating and visiting (10:30-11:30am), then following announcements and meeting remarks (11:30am-12:00 noon) we offer a one-hour educational or entertaining program (12:00-1:00pm).

You don’t have to be a survivor of the Shoah (Holocaust) to join this group. We are open and inclusive to everyone who is interested in our group and the speakers and programs we offer.

Admission is free unless otherwise noted, but a $5 donation is suggested, and bringing food to share is always appreciated.
