Temple Emanu-El presents a beautiful introduction to the High Holidays. The evening begins with a film and discussion followed by a special oneg. The evening concludes with the Selichot Service a time for reflection that will help prepare you spiritually for the upcoming holidays. Selichot are penitential prayers said before and during the High Holidays and other fast days throughout the year.  In Hebrew, selichot translates to “forgiveness,” and indeed there is an emphasis in these prayers on the merciful attributes with which G-d is said to govern the world.
