2:00 PM - 4:00 PM200 E. Santa Clara Street, San Jose

We have issued an update from our Temple President, Rabbi, Tikkun Olam Committee & Board of Trustees in regards to the event on Sunday. Please read the following email that was sent out to congregants on Thursday, July 23rd.  Click here.

Join a summer dialogue on Public Safety and Social Justice

At the Interfaith March that began outside Temple Emanu-El’s sanctuary on June 20, a pledge was made to take action, to no longer be complicit, to challenge white supremacy, racism and bigotry. On July 26 at 2:00 pm, we have an opportunity to follow through on that pledge:

PACT, NAACP and other local organizations will come together on the afternoon of July 26 to call for the dismantling of racist policing systems and to reimagine a new model for public safety in San Jose. Activists will unite to elevate strategies that extend beyond bias training, removing police officers from schools, and halting arrests for minor crimes. We will seek to erase oppressive policing and enact strategies framed by racial equality and restorative justice. Look to hear more on ways to decertify criminal cops, tackle the Police Officers Bill of Rights and end full immunity for officers and gain insight on defunding the police and redirecting funds to invest in social programs.

If attending in person, please meet outside of San Jose’s City Hall, wear masks and obey social-distancing rules. You may also access the rally virtually on Facebook Live at facebook.com/pactsj.
