Jewish Silicon Valley at Pride Parade

Sunday, August 25, 2024 21 Av 5784

10:00 AM - 12:00 PMDowntown San Jose

We are excited to be partnering with Jewish Silicon Valley at this year's Pride Parade, in downtown San Jose!

Silicon Valley Pride is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and our allies. It all started back in 1975 as a gay rights rally and evolved into San Jose Pride Festival in 1976. The following year, 1977 San Jose added its first parade to the celebration. In 2014 San Jose Pride was changed to Silicon Valley Pride to include neighboring cities to encourage unity. It is now the largest Pride celebration of the South Bay and is a family friendly event.

SV Pride is always a wonderful time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, however this year is not all rainbows and glitter. Nearly 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been proposed or passed in 2023 alone. As Jews, we have an ethical imperative to treat each person as holy and deserving of respect and dignity. When we speak out for LGBTQ+ equality as Jews, we change the narrative that “religious” means anti-LGBTQ+.

Help us show the local LGBTQIA+ community that Jewish organizations stand for love, understanding, and equality. Proudly walk with us hand in hand, side by side, with one powerful message: LOVE

Temple Emanu-El will be meeting in downtown San Jose at 9:30am, with the Parade starting at 10:00am.
