George Segal, The Artist and His Art

Sunday, May 2, 2021 20 Iyar 5781

12:30 PM - 2:00 PM

On Sunday May 2, 2021, from 12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m, Temple Emanu-El is hosting a lecture via  Zoom titled "George Segal, The Artist and His Art.”  Segal (November 26, 1924 - June 9, 2000) was a Jewish-American painter and sculptor associated with the Pop Art movement.

Among his many works is the Holocaust memorial/sculpture displayed outside of the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. To access more information about George Segal and his artwork, just click on this link: https://www.segalfoundation.org/about_bio.html  (Note that though they shared the same name, the artist George Segal was not the actor George Segal, who also painted from time to time.)

We are pleased to have Sandy Gordon as our lecturer. After a successful career as a speech pathologist and audiologist, her love of art took her in another direction. She was the art history course coordinator for 19 years at Quest/City College of New York. Sandy has lectured at NYU, Osher, Elderhostel, (now Road Scholar), Chautauqua Institution and other venues.
