”Havurah" comes from the Hebrew word for friend.
Have you heard about Temple Emanu-el's Havurah program? "Havurah" (plural "Havurot") comes from the Hebrew word for "friend." Here at Temple Emanu-El, a Havurah is a group which offers friendship and an extended family within our community.
Many Havurot gather for holidays and Jewish experiences, but also, like any friends, for social occasions or 'just because.' For years, Temple Emanu-El members, especially new members, have found that by joining a Havurah, they have developed close, lifelong friendships.
We're embarking on re-imagining how Temple Emanu-El helps coordinate Havurot among our members.
"Circles of Connection" is a new program for Temple Members, sponsored by the Havurah Committee. These Circle groups are interest-based and centered on a theme and activity. Circles form in the Fall and Spring, with each Circle planning their own events. Whether you’re 21 or 101, it’s never too late to make new Temple friends while connecting over shared interests and fun activities.
