On January 27, 1945, Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp, was liberated. In 2005, the United Nations declared January 27 International HolocaustRemembranceDay. Local Holocaust survivor Tamara Noten and Council Member Sergio Jimenez will join Mayor Sam Liccardo in proclaiming a week of remembrance in San Jose during the Ceremonial Items portion of the regular meeting of the San Jose City Council.
