History
The dream to have a preschool at Temple Emanu-El in San Jose became a
reality on September 24, 2001. Opening with just one
student, enrollment quickly grew and we ended our first year with about
40 young friends. Our school has continued to grow and in the fall
of 2004 we opened our first kindergarten class. Temple Emanu-El
Preschool is located on the campus of Temple Emanu-El which was founded
in 1861 and serves as one of the oldest Synagogues in the Bay Area.
Temple Emanu-El Preschool under went a major renovation over the summer of
2004. We moved back into our "home" in December of 2004
to a beautifully renovated building. Completely modernized
classrooms, child size bathroom fixtures, upgraded earthquake and fire
protection systems are just some of the many exciting changes to our
building.
Student ratios
Our student to teacher ratio falls below the county norm of 1:12.
We strive to provide children with the one on one attention that they
deserve while preparing them for their next step in education.
Toilet training
Children do not need to be toilet trained to enroll in our program.
Our quality staff will work with the child at school on toilet training
in conjunction with the family working at home. All children are
special and they will master toilet training, however we find that it is
best to wait until the child shows signs of readiness.
Health
and Sickness policy
Temple Emanu-El Preschool has a very firm health and sickness policy.
Our goal is to provide a quality education to our students and we love
to see them everyday. However, when children are ill we
request that they remain at home until they are not only non-contagious,
but also feeling well. Please inquire for a copy of our health and
sickness policy.
No Nit Policy
Temple Emanu-El preschool has a no nit policy. All students must
be completely free of nits prior to returning to school.
Admission
Students who show a readiness to our program are welcome to enroll.
